SOLÉ GIMÉNEZ -Víctor Villegas Auditorium – June 9
Sole Giménez, singer and songwriter, the former leader of the group Presuntos Implicados, is one of the most elegant and unmistakable voices in Spanish and Latin music in which she has always stood out for her sensitivity and uniqueness.
She has worked with artists of the calibre of Joan Manuel Serrat, Herbie Hancock, Ana Belén, Milton Nascimento, Randy Crawford, Víctor Manuel, Armando Manzanero, Miguel Ríos and María Dolores Pradera, among many others.
A committed and caring woman, she is currently an ambassador for OXFAM Intermón and a member of the Consell Valencià de Cultura. Because of her impeccable vocal technique, which is totally self-taught, she has become a vocal teacher at the Berklee College of Music, at its only headquarters outside of Boston, in Valencia, and continues to collaborate with the institution on its new projects in Latin America.
“My new album, the seventh in my solo career, has a man’s name because I wanted to approach them to highlight their sensitivity in these times when they seem to have to have given it up. They are admirable men who have accompanied me on this musical journey. Great authors, great musicians and singers and generous companions who are premiering their songs with me. They have put voice, text and music to more than half of this album and in their new songs they have shown without shame their way of feeling and loving, speaking to us of their doubts, their courage, their fears and joys…. emotions exposed to the sun in the form of a song for others to hear, enjoy and make theirs, because most of us know that life is a chain intertwined by feelings and we cannot live with our backs turned to them.
I too, the female part, bring six new songs to this album in which I don’t really scrimp, because in them I confess again and I recognise errors and desires, fears and hopes and I let myself be carried away by the feelings that make them up and I am grateful for the possibility of airing them among melodies…. Melodies that here sound like chacarera, bossa nova, blues, bolero, rumba or ballads, all recorded in the service of beauty as always.
Thanks to the Friendship that sustains this album with its network of affection and infinite thanks to the Music that helps us to exorcise our ghosts, to hum our dreams, that allows itself to be shared and is putting emotion, joy and peace in our lives!!
